Who We Are
Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, U.A.C. has been a part of Chehalis, WA 98532 and the greater Lewis County community since 1914. We are a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) and are committed to the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as presented in The Book of Concord of 1580.
We strive to be as our motto says: Historic, Biblical Christianity whose source is Scripture and whose heart is the Gospel. We are convinced that the historic liturgies of the Church—the way the Word of God has inspired the Church’s worship down through the centuries—are best suited to transmit and celebrate the riches of God’s Word. And we are devoted to ongoing catechesis, and to the centrality of Christ’s Word and Sacraments in the life of the Christian.
The Bible is clear; salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone (Eph 2:8-9), and rests only on the person and work of Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, alone (Acts 4:12).
Ephesians 2:8-9

Acts 4:12

When you join us for the Divine Service, you will receive Jesus Christ, crucified and risen again for the forgiveness of your sins. We promise!
What Is The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod
The simplest explanation of a synod is an organization of like-minded congregations and church workers. The Missouri Synod was formed in 1847. While there have been multiple splits of and from the synod, it is expected that each church in membership with the Synod should have a similar look and feel.
What is a Lutheran
The name, Lutheran, was originally a pejorative to describe the followers of Martin Luther, a monk and priest who wished to reform the church. Luther is considered the father of Protestantism due to his public statement against the practices of corruption in the church, especially of indulgences, that he nailed to the Wittenberg church door in 1517. A vehement opponent of the pope and papal power, Luther was excommunicated and had to go into hiding to escape the death warrant against him. He is also famous for translating the Bible and the church service into the German language from Latin, putting them into the hands of the common people rather than just scholars and clergy.
